Since the advent of the microchip our ability to produce miniaturised electronic equipment has advanced significantly and today there are a huge number of extremely complex electrical appliances of an incredibly small size commercially available. One of the best examples of the miniaturised gadgets that are extremely popular around the world would of course be mobile phones. When they were first introduced in the late eighties mobile phones were large and bulky pieces of equipment and certainly not mobile when compared to the models that are available today. Some of the mobile phones currently available on the market are incredibly small and incorporate many more features into their design that previous examples. For example, many of the tiny modern phones currently available will have cameras built into them and internet access.
Mobile phones are an excellent example of some of the gadgets that are currently available as the majority of people own one. However, there are many other items commercially available such as MP3 players that are also enormously popular. In recent years there has been a tendency to combine the function of various gadgets into one unit and it is quite common to find mobile phones that have the same capabilities of an mp3 player. However, despite the fact that many gadgets combine features and functions from other units it is usually the case that people will own an MP3 player, a mobile phone and a digital camera even though there are products available that can fulfil the role of all three of these items.
